Description:

A client came to us with a big dream of his own house. The owner of a future estate residence wanted to create something more, than just a building. He wanted to realize his own philosophy of harmonious life on the ground, far away from city bustle. He already had the project of the house; but the client wanted to achieve more. That is why he came for our help – he wanted to design high-tech greenhouses, which would be attached to his house.

According to the concept, greenhouses will have to function throughout the whole year. And they are not just technical rooms – greenhouses are essential part of the house. Plants in such greenhouses will be grown hydroponically. This will help to reduce dirt and will increase crop yields – due to this method plant do not need soil, nutrients are directly derived to plant’s roots during irrigation process. Plants will need enhanced artificial lighting; that is why we decided to abandon the roof glazing. Instead of this we proposed to create an exploitable green roof which can be sowed with flowering herbs.

We also refreshed the façade decision of the house: we removed bulky overhangs, changed façade materials so they began to obey to the bends of a quite complex space-planning solution. This changes helped the house’s appearance to get rid of eclecticism – the whole house became much easier visually.

The architectural solution of greenhouses is echoed by the house. This allows greenhouses to become an integral part of the residence; and at the same time they make house truly special. Now, even in winter, the owner will be able to teach his children phytology – we helped his idea to came true.
