Description:

We designed this house for a family from Krasnodar, Russian Federation. The clients are an active young family with formed life attitude, where the main emphasis is placed on ecology and wise use of both natural and vital resources. Therefore, we used principles of orderliness and brevity to create a modern house which meets the clients’ needs.

The main message of the architectural solution – is benefit, strength and beauty. This is a reasonable combination of functionalism and aesthetics, when the outstanding volume of the second floor forms a terrace canopy, when the compositional solution of windows obeys practicality and logic. This is a bold choice of a white facade solution (largely due to the warm climate), which made it possible to form the house perception as holistic. This is the maximum integration of greenery into the house composition, which brings the aesthetics of nature to the fore in contrast to the laconic geometry of the facades.

The main volume is located in order to occupy as little territory as possible, leaving a priority to undeveloped green areas for recreation, games on lawns and simple nature admiring. The combination of solid concrete and lattice metal fencing don’t allow to see main territory details from the outside – thus a sense of privacy is formed, which is especially important in rapidly growing area. But at the same time this feature preserves the connection between the inner territory and street space.

The inner space is divided into functional zones: entrance, transit and leisure areas. The entrance area includes a front green courtyard and a carport with a green driveway (with the exception of the parking area, all paving of the site is made as eco-paving with lawn filling, which preserves a sense of unity with nature).

Inner concrete fences in shape of walls are integrated in the house composition. Due to these walls courtyard areas became a special part of the house’s living space and the border between the inner and external space is erased. Concrete railings help to form transit areas, through which access to the secluded courtyard is provided.

The customers requested to protect the main life activity from prying eyes – that is why living quarters with panoramic glazing are oriented towards the courtyard area. Technical rooms with narrow slit windows are oriented towards the main and side facades – thus facing street facades convey the sense of privacy. The courtyard serves as a place which concentrates the owners’ leisure and hobbies – there is a dining terrace under a canopy, swimming pool area with sun loungers and an area for games on the lawn. The panoramic glazing of the living rooms removes the border between exterior and interior and makes the courtyard a part of the house.

The laconic house harmoniously absorbed the given settings and answers the request for a reasonable combination of laconicism and functionality. A minimalistic volume has become a part of the environment. And at the same time it conveys its own balanced character to the viewer.
