Description:

Old cinema house “Druzhba” is allocated in Zavodskoy district in Minsk. The cinema became opened for visitors in 1974. Over the 35 years of its history the building has physically worn out, also it became unprofitable. That is why we were asked to reconstruct the building and to change its functionality according to modern needs.

The new multifunctional complex is designed to provide residents of Chizhovka districts with various public functions. A neat form is complemented by façades solution – multidirectional windows and panels visually transform a static building into a dynamic object. A structured translucent volume, which forms the top level of the building, became the compositional dominate.  It symbolically unites under one roof a wide range of functions: halls for conferences, seminars and exhibitions, catering facilities, sport zones, play zones for kids and adults, a parking.

The terrain led to the appearance of entrance zone. We developed a gathering place, which allows to accommodate a significant number of people for waiting and resting. By the connection of pedestrian zones, we made the building an integral part of urban space – the multifunctional complex became a new center of public attraction.
